Outreach and explanation
Learning Irregulars is a network of people dedicated to fostering innovation in learning in organizations. I want you to be aware of what we’re doing, and I hope you’ll join us.
I see the global economic cataclysm as the birth pangs of a new age. The rigid, mechanical, predictable, slow-moving, top-down industrial age is giving way to a flexible, erratic, rapid-fire network era. Things are not going to snap back to “normal,” for we’re redefining normalcy. This phase change makes the times ripe for bold experiments and unprecedented innovation in human learning.
Innovation is borne of the collision of mind-sets from disparate areas. (Hmmm…. How could these pieces fit together?) To accelerate innovation, Learning Irregulars intends to host challenging conversations among people from many disciplines, e.g., cognitive scientists, labor leaders, CFOs, anthropologists, psychologists, historians, executives, and others you help bring to the table.
We plan to grow organically. There is no master plan. Next month we’ll start hosting public conversations. Most meetings will be webcast live. We’ll record and document what goes on. My interest is in corporate learning, but learning underlies everything in life, so Learning Irregulars is not a business-only deal.
There are two prerequisites for taking an active role in shaping Learning Irregulars: (1) You have to be out to change the world. (2) You have to have at least a snowball’s chance of doing it. If you qualify, drop by our site. Register if you like. Subscribe to the feed. And send me your thoughts. What areas do you think we should explore?
